Appointments

Making an appointment

We have recently introduced a new telephone triage system. This system allows the patients to be contacted and assessed to see if the problem can be resolved by telephone, in a face to face appointment or with another professional such as a pharmacist who might be more appropriately consulted.

If your problem is needing to be assessed face to face then an appointment will be made for you either on the same day or in a timely manner for the level of priority. Please make sure that your contact details are always kept up to date as we lose a considerable amount of time with wrong numbers. We will attempt to contact you a maximum of 2 times so please ensure your telephone is kept free to receive a call.

Appointments become available for booking at 08:30 am and at 2:00 pm in the afternoons, (Thursdays excepted).

As a patient of this practice, you have the right to state a preference as to which doctor you would like to see.  However, if you have an urgent medical problem, (one which requires attention within 48 hours), you might not be able to see the doctor of your choice and you may be offered an appointment with another doctor.

  • The practice has a one appointment one patient policy. Please make separate appointments for each person who needs to see the doctor or nurse practitioner.
  • Consultations are available for patients over 75 years or those who have not attended in the past three years.
  • If you are unable to keep an appointment with a doctor or nurse please let reception know as soon as possible so that it can be made available to another patient
  • Standard appointments are for ten minutes. Occasionally five-minute emergency slots may be offered
  • The clinician may refuse to see you if you are more than 20 minutes late for your appointment.

Please be mindful that not all Doctors or Nurses work full time within the practice and you may wait to see the practitioner of your choice.

Home Visits

All members of the Primary Care Team can only visit patients at home if they are genuinely housebound and unable to attend the Medical Centre.

Home visits should be requested for patients who are too ill or too frail to attend the Medical Centre.  Home visits are usually done between the hours of 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm.  Please phone reception as early as possible in the day so that a visit can be arranged.  A doctor will phone you back to get further details and to plan your care with you prior to a visit.
